The project is located in Shanghai. This retirement community revitalizes a disused building complex through adaptive reuse, transforming it into a modern senior-living hub. With Shanghai’s aging population and urgent demand for high-quality elderly care, the project sets a new benchmark for repurposing underperforming assets while pioneering age-friendly retrofitting practices.

The lobby's ceiling takes inspiration from the grid framework of píngqī (平棋), a traditional Chinese architectural partitioning system. Within each modular grid, woven-texture panels create an elegant interplay of light and shadow, evoking the craftsmanship of bamboo mat weaving to establish a serene yet luminous Eastern ambiance.
